In the Metro Atlanta area, whole-home installations generally range from $1,200 to $5,800, with a typical high-quality solution landing around $2,500. Under-sink systems are more affordable, usually $200 to $850 installed. Water softener installations typically fall between $800 and $3,300.

How long does installation take?

A whole-house filtration system installation typically takes 2 to 4 hours under standard conditions. More complex setups involving plumbing modifications, bypass valves, or older home configurations can take 4 to 8 hours. Under-sink or point-of-use installations usually take 1 to 2 hours. We'll give you a time estimate before we start so you can plan your day.

What's included with your installation warranty?

Our 15-year parts and labor warranty covers the installation work itself, including plumbing connections and system components. HALO systems come with their own manufacturer warranties: 10-year warranties on carbon media and ION conditioning media, and 5-year warranties on scale media options. If something goes wrong, we come back and make it right.

Do I need a plumbing permit for water filtration installation?

Local permits may be required for installing plumbing systems in Atlanta. Many cities in Metro Atlanta require plumbing permits for installations that modify water service lines, including certain types of water filtration system installations. Some municipalities have specific exemptions depending on the scope of work. We handle all the permitting and code compliance so you don't have to worry about it. Which HALO system is best for Atlanta's municipal water?

For most Atlanta homes on municipal water, the H2 ZERO Ultimate or H2 ZERO Carbon Only will handle the most common complaints: chlorine taste, odor, and residual chemicals.

Atlanta's water is naturally soft, so full softening usually isn't necessary.

If you want added scale protection for your plumbing and appliances, the Ultimate's built-in ION conditioner covers that without adding a second tank.

Homes with older pipes that introduce sediment or rust may benefit from the HALO 5's multi-stage approach, which includes dedicated sediment filtration down to 5 microns.

How long do HALO filtration systems last?

Whole house systems can last up to 10 years. HALO backs the HAC carbon media with a 10-year warranty on most systems, and the ION conditioner also carries a 10-year warranty.

The proprietary scale media option on the H2ZERO 2 has a 5-year warranty. Actual lifespan depends on your home's water quality and daily usage. The Rhino Well Water system, by comparison, lasts for 5 years. HALO's longevity is a standout in the category.

Can these systems handle both city and well water?

Yes, though the right system varies.

City water typically needs chlorine and taste/odor treatment, which any HALO system handles. Well water introduces different challenges like iron, sulfur, high hardness, and sometimes bacteria.

The HALO Hybrid is often the best choice for well water because it provides true ion exchange softening alongside carbon filtration.

The HALO 5 can also work well for well water applications where hardness is moderate but sediment and turbidity are significant concerns. In some cases, a pre-filter for heavy sediment or iron is recommended to protect the main system's media.

What's the difference between water conditioning and water softening?

Water conditioning, like what the HALO ION provides, changes how hard water minerals behave so they stay suspended in the water rather than forming scale buildup on your pipes, fixtures, and water heater. The minerals remain in the water but lose their ability to stick to surfaces.

Water softening, like the HALO Hybrid's ion exchange process, physically removes calcium and magnesium and replaces them with sodium or potassium ions.

Softened water feels noticeably different at the sink and in the shower, produces better soap lather, and eliminates spotting. Conditioning requires no salt and produces no wastewater. Softening requires salt and periodic regeneration but delivers more dramatic results for homes dealing with genuinely hard water.

Do HALO systems require electricity or produce wastewater?

Four of the five HALO systems operate with zero electricity, zero backwash, and zero wastewater: the HALO 5, H2 ZERO Ultimate, H2 ZERO 2, and H2 ZERO Carbon Only.

This makes them extremely efficient and environmentally friendly, with minimal long-term operating costs.

The HALO Hybrid is the exception. Because it uses ion exchange resin that needs periodic regeneration, it does consume water and salt (or potassium) during those cycles.

For homeowners who prioritize water conservation or live in areas with higher water and sewer fees, the zero-waste whole house systems are a strong advantage. Multistage systems like reverse osmosis provide high levels of purification for drinking and cooking water and can complement a whole house filtration setup, though reverse osmosis systems remove up to 99% of dissolved contaminants at a single point of use rather than the whole home.
