HOW CAN I TELL IF AN AIR CONDITIONER I WANT TO INSTALL IS ENERGY EFFICIENT

An air conditioner’s energy efficiency is measured by the SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio). Think of it as the MPG for air conditioner. The minimum SEER rating for a new air conditioner is 13 and the higher ratings are in the low 20s.

You’ll easily see this listed on an air conditioner’s yellow EnergyGuide label if you’re shopping in a store.
